Cyclizar

Without an evolution, Cyclizar occupies its entire evolutionary line by itself. It is Paldea's Mount Pokémon, a creature that lives alongside people and has allowed them to ride on its back since ancient times. Paintings depicting this relationship appear on very old murals, which fits its role within the region.

Its design is based on a lizard, but incorporates elements of a motorcycle: the helmet resembles a windscreen or a riding helmet, the cheeks look like turn signals and the rear has the appearance of a seat. The tail and the protrusion on its chest evoke wheels when it curls up. It also retains traits found in several lizards, such as foot pads and a tail capable of gripping things.

The body heat of whoever rides it cheers it up, and it can run while carrying a person. Its Dragon and Normal types reflect that mix of reptilian animal and road vehicle. Its quadrupedal shape, green colour and height of 1.6 m complete a silhouette designed to move quickly without ceasing to look like a living creature.

Cyclizar does have a clear competitive role, although it is not known for dealing much damage by itself. Its 121 Speed is its main stat, followed by 95 Attack and 85 Special Attack. Its 70 HP, 65 Defense and 65 Special Defense leave it with modest bulk, so it does not take strong hits well.

Regenerator defines its teams: it recovers a small amount of HP when switching out. With U-turn, it can attack and leave the field in the same turn, while Rapid Spin removes entry hazards. Knock Off removes items, and Shed Tail creates a Substitute at the cost of its HP before passing to another team member. This last combination made Cyclizar a very problematic part of the early Scarlet and Violet OU teams; later, the ban was applied to Shed Tail and Cyclizar was able to return to that environment.

When attacking, Dragon and Normal give it useful STAB, with Dragon Pulse for the special side and Double-Edge or Dragon Claw for the physical one. Defensively, it resists Fire, Water, Electric and Grass, and is immune to Ghost attacks, but it is weak to Ice, Fighting, Dragon and Fairy. Its lack of defenses and limited damage output mean that it depends on coming in, providing support and leaving before taking a serious hit.

Cyclizar belongs to the Field Egg Group and has an even gender split: 50 % female and 50 % male. Its eggs take 30 cycles to hatch, equivalent to approximately 7905 steps. The species has a Medium Slow growth rate.

Its Egg Moves include Iron Tail, Aqua Tail and Power Whip. Each covers a different need: Steel against Fairy, Water to expand its coverage and Grass to punish certain Ground and Water types. Knock Off is also available this way, although it can likewise be learned via TM.

It does not evolve, so there is no condition to fulfil in order to reach another species. Its catch rate is 190, a fairly favourable figure for finding and catching it during a normal playthrough, especially compared with species with much lower rates. Breeding lets you obtain specimens with inherited moves without relying on an evolutionary chain.
