Lilligant

The scarlet flower it wears on its head looks like a crown, while the sepals and leaves on its body form a sort of dress. Lilligant is a humanoid plant inspired by a lily and by the image of a princess dressed for a ball. Its English name combines “lily” and “elegant”, while the Japanese name, Doredia (ドレディア), evokes a dress and a delicate feminine figure.

The fragrance of its flower calms those nearby, although keeping it healthy requires constant care. The composition of the soil slightly changes its scent. Pokédex entries also say that wild flowers retain a beauty that is difficult to reproduce, even with time and money, and that they may wither when it finds a mate or when it receives too little attention.

It is the second stage of a two-species evolutionary line. It evolves from Petilil with a Sun Stone and represents the flower in full bloom: taller, more ornate and with a presence much closer to that of a dancer than to that of a young plant.

Lilligant is not a general-purpose competitive pick. Its stats concentrate its performance in Special Attack, with 110, while Speed reaches 90; HP sits at 70, Attack at 60, Defense at 75 and Special Defense at 75. It has enough special damage and useful Speed, but its defenses do not let it take many hits, and its Grass typing leaves it exposed to Bug, Fire, Ice, Poison and Flying attacks.

Chlorophyll defines its teams: when the sun is out, it raises Lilligant’s Speed. With Sunny Day or a teammate that activates the weather, it can gain the turn it needs to use Sleep Powder and set up Quiver Dance. After that, Giga Drain provides damage and recovery, while Energy Ball hits harder without forcing it to stay locked into one move.

Own Tempo has a more specific use, since it prevents confusion, but it does not improve its offensive power or solve its defensive problems. Leaf Guard protects it from status problems in the sun, although it competes directly with Chlorophyll, which usually contributes much more to a speed-based strategy.

Its role fits best as a special attacker on sun teams and as a mid- or late-game sweeper, once opponents that resist Grass have been weakened. The problem is that it relies heavily on landing Sleep Powder, needs time to set up and faces clear answers in Fire, Flying and Poison types.

Lilligant belongs to the Grass Egg Group, and all its specimens are female. When breeding, its eggs take 20 cycles to hatch, which is approximately 5355 steps using the usual conversion. It has no Egg Moves that affect breeding for this species, so the main interest lies in passing down the ability and preparing the moveset after evolution.

Its catch rate is 75. It is not an effortless catch: in a wild encounter, it is worth bringing suitable Poké Balls and taking advantage of status conditions if you want to avoid several attempts. It can also be obtained by evolving Petilil.

The exact condition is to use a Sun Stone on Petilil. It does not depend on level or friendship. The species has a regular form and a Hisuian form, and the form obtained is tied to where the evolution takes place. Within its line, the Sun Stone marks the transition from a small plant to a fully developed flower.
