Absol

It looks like a harbinger of misfortune, but its actual behavior is that of an animal trying to prevent harm. Absol can sense earthquakes, tidal waves, and other natural disasters, and appears before people to warn them. Superstition interpreted this the other way around: its appearance coincided with disaster because it arrived before it happened, not because it caused it.

Its quadrupedal, feline body combines white fur, a dark mane, and a tail curved like a scythe. The side horn reinforces its appearance as a creature linked to fate, while the mountainous, rugged environments in its Pokédex entries fit the image of a solitary predator. It is 1.2 m tall and weighs 47 kg.

Absol belongs to Generation III and occupies a one-species evolutionary line. Its category, the Disaster Pokémon, sums up the contradiction at the heart of its story: it inspires fear when it is actually trying to warn of danger. Mega Absol and Mega Absol Z expand on that image without changing its place as an independent species.

Absol is not a reliable competitive choice in demanding battles. Its stat spread is highly uneven: 65 HP, 130 Attack, 60 Defense, 75 Special Attack, 60 Special Defense, and 75 Speed, for a total of 465. It hits hard on the physical side, but its defenses are poor and its Speed is not enough to outspeed many offensive attackers.

Pressure is its most defining Ability when the goal is to wear down resources: it makes the opponent run out of PP sooner. Super Luck fits an aggressive playstyle based on critical hits better, while Justified, its Hidden Ability, raises its Attack when it is hit by a Dark-type move.

Its Dark typing lets it apply pressure with Knock Off, Night Slash, and Sucker Punch. Swords Dance can turn a favorable switch-in into an immediate threat, while False Swipe is useful for catching Pokémon during the main story. Defensively, the typing gives it an immunity to Psychic, but it stacks weaknesses to Bug, Fairy, and Fighting. The combination of poor bulk, middling Speed, and reliance on prediction greatly limits its opportunities. In a regular playthrough, it works best as a physical attacker for dealing burst damage, especially once the opposing Pokémon that can withstand its hits have already been weakened.

Absol belongs to the Field Egg Group. Its gender ratio is 50% female, and it needs 25 Egg Cycles to hatch, equivalent to approximately 6630 steps using the usual formula. Its growth rate is Medium Slow, and it provides 2 Attack when trained.

Its notable Egg Moves include Double-Edge, Megahorn, Zen Headbutt, Play Rough, and Sucker Punch. It can also inherit Perish Song, Baton Pass, Feint, and Assurance, options that expand its support tools or take advantage of favorable matchups.

It does not evolve from another species and has no evolution condition of its own: you obtain it as an independent Absol. It lives in Mountain, a habitat that matches the entries placing it in hostile, isolated areas. Its Catch Rate is 30, so catching one requires more preparation than catching a common species; inflicting status conditions and saving a suitable Poké Ball makes a difference.
