Celesteela

The Launch Pokémon emerged from an Ultra Wormhole and reached this world by streaking through the sky at dizzying speeds. Its enormous arms expel a gas capable of carbonising an entire forest, while readings of its energy reactions reach off-the-charts peaks. To the beings of this world, it is strange and dangerous; in the place it comes from, however, it is part of the common fauna.

Its appearance combines a metallic structure with shapes reminiscent of bamboo stems and shoots, as well as a humanoid silhouette that looks ready for take-off. It is 9.2 metres tall and weighs 999.9 kg, a mass that fits its armoured body and propulsive limbs. The Launch Pokémon category refers precisely to its ability to rise and travel through the air.

Celesteela does not evolve and does not come from another species. Only one form has been recorded, and its status as an Ultra Beast sets it apart from conventional evolutionary lines.

Celesteela does have a place in battle, especially as a wall and durable attacker on balanced teams. Its HP is 97, its Defence reaches 103 and its Special Defence 101; its Special Attack reaches 107, while its Attack remains at 101 and its Speed at 61. This spread lets it switch into many hits, wear opponents down and keep attacking without relying on a single stat.

Steel/Flying gives it an immunity to Ground and Poison, resistances to Bug, Grass, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Normal, Psychic and Steel, and only two weaknesses: Fire and Electric. Offensively, Flash Cannon and Heavy Slam make use of its Steel typing; Giga Drain provides Grass-type damage and recovery. Leech Seed, Protect and Substitute let it gain turns and punish switches, although Grass-type Pokémon ignore Leech Seed.

Beast Boost raises its strongest stat when it knocks out an opponent that turn. It does not always activate on a defensive set, but a KO can improve its durability or offensive capability even further. In singles, it had a presence in OU during the seventh generation and appeared in UU in Sword and Shield. Its problems are clear: low Speed, reliance on Leech Seed for HP recovery and difficulty breaking through Fire- or Electric-type opponents, or Substitutes that take advantage of its passivity.

Celesteela belongs to the Undiscovered Egg Group, so it cannot breed or produce Eggs with a compatible partner. It also has no gender ratio. Its 120 Egg cycles amount to approximately 30,855 steps, although that figure is only relevant for species that actually produce Eggs.

Its acquisition is tied to its nature as an Ultra Beast and to encounters originating from Ultra Wormholes, not to an evolutionary chain. It does not evolve under any conditions: it appears as an independent species and keeps that form throughout the game.

Its catch rate is 45, which is low compared with easy-to-catch species. It is worth saving suitable Poké Balls and weakening it carefully, because its HP, defences and Steel/Flying typing can prolong the encounter. Its enormous weight does not change the capture method, but it does explain why moves such as Heavy Slam suit it particularly well.
